About Us

The University of Louisville's Bioinformatics Laboratory, directed by Dr. Eric C. Rouchka, D.Sc., was founded in the summer of 2003 as a partnership between the University of Louisville Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science and the Kentucky Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (KBRIN). KBRIN funds (NIH NCRR Grant P20 RR016481) were instrumental in obtaining a 16-node, 32-CPU Dual AMD 2800MP Beowulf Cluster for bioinformatics applications connected directly to workstations in the bioinformatics lab via a 1GB switch.
